MY STORY

Dr. Stancil Joseph Lister Hutchinson was born and raised in Sacramento by his parents, Drs. Grant and Karen Hutchinson.  Dr. Karen has been a clinical psychologist for roughly 40 years and Dr. Grant a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist for over 50 years.  Dr. Hutchinson initially studied arts and humanities, and graduated magna cum laude in film studies/theory from the University of Southern California before entering graduate work in psychology at Alliant International University.  Dr. Hutchinson earned his PsyD in 2009 and his dissertation was titled: “Psychosocial Variables as Predictors of Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Procedure Outcomes.” 

After completing his pre-doctoral internship at Fresno City College and post-doctoral internship in at Kaiser Permanente in Fremont, Dr. Hutchinson began a private practice in Sacramento, offering psychological and neuropsychological consultations as well as individual psychotherapy.  Over the years, Dr. Hutchinson has gathered experience as a professor at California Northstate University, teaching differential diagnosis, best practices treatment for adults, psychological assessment, and neuropsychological assessment.  He has also served as the primary supervisor for many psychology graduate students. 

Dr. Hutchinson has provided psychotherapy for a variety of individuals, including but not limited to workers’ compensation applicants. He also has much experience providing pre-surgical psychological clearances for bariatric surgery, spinal cord stimulator implantation, and peripheral nerve stimulator implantation.

Dr. Hutchinson was licensed as a qualified medical examiner (QME) in 2015 and regularly provides psychological and neuropsychological Qualified Medical Examination (QME), Agreed Medical Examination (AME), and Independent Medical Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs)/Fitness-for-Duty evaluations.
